Oloitiptip, Nancy N
The uptake of maternal health services remains an urgent problem in Kenya despite the implementation of initiatives to strengthen health service delivery. Maternal health indicators continue to show deteriorating numbers, which is an indication of ineffective health systems leading to poor uptake of maternal health services (MHS). This study set out to investigate the factors influencing the uptake of maternal health services in Kenya, with Entonet-Lenkisim Ward, Kajiado County, as the study case. The study's specific objectives were to establish the influence of cultural beliefs on the uptake of MHS, to determine how physical distance to the health facility influences the uptake of MHS, to examine how the level of education influences the uptake of MHS, and to assess the effect of a regular income on the uptake of MHS. Andersen’s behavioural model theory guided the study. The study adopted a mixed research design, combining qualitative and quantitative research elements to answer the research questions. A study sample of 308 respondents was selected using multistage cluster sampling. Data was collected using survey questionnaires and analysed using descriptive statistics. Data was presented in frequency distribution tables and percentages. The findings showed that cultural beliefs, physical distance to healthcare facilities, level of education, and availability of regular income directly influenced maternal health service uptake. Pregnant women had a low level of awareness of maternal health services, and physical distances to health care facilities affected their uptake of the services. The study recommends a combined effort to address factors such as socioeconomic status, physical distance, education, cultural beliefs, and quality of services. The study also suggested an increased emphasis on implementing programs to reduce financial barriers to ensure more women can access essential MHS without financial constraints.

Muindi, Nancy
This study aimed at exploring the effects of digital fundraising strategies on the financial performance of small and medium-sized agricultural non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Nairobi County. The study was guided by three specific objectives: To establish the digital fundraising strategies used by small and medium agriculture NGOs, to investigate the effectiveness of digital fundraising strategies in increasing the number and amount of donations received by small and medium agriculture NGOs and to establish the factors affecting the adoption of digital fundraising strategies by small and medium agriculture NGOs in Nairobi County. As the guidelines for the conducted research, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and The Psychological Theory of empathy were used to provide conceptualization of the effects of digital fundraising strategies on financial performance of small and medium-sized NGOs. The study utilized a descriptive research methodology and a qualitative approach through key informant interviews. It used qualitative data for validating findings and triangulating data sources. Data collected from interviews was analyzed through thematic analysis. According to the results of the study, most small and medium agriculture NGOs have adopted digital funding raising strategies ranging from social media fundraising, crowdfunding, E-mail and newsletter fundraising, donation pages on websites, mobile money donations, among others. These strategies are essential for enhancing the sustainability and growth of small and medium agricultural NGOs in Nairobi County. The study concluded that the digital fundraising strategies substantially impact the money produced by small and medium-sized agricultural non-governmental organizations in Nairobi County and recommended development of training and capacity building of the NGOs as part of skills development, integration of different channel approaches for fundraising, and develop a strong technological infrastructure as part of their digital initiatives.

Musyoki, Florence M
This study examined the factors affecting people with physical disabilities' accessibility to public sanitation facilities in Kisumu County's Kisumu East Sub County metropolitan region. Descriptive research design was utilized in the study with the aim of guiding data collection by blending both qualitative and quantitative methods. The study participants were asked to complete questionnaires in order to gather data. A combination of close-ended and open-ended questions were included in the questionnaire. There were 2187 individuals in the population, from which the target sample of 260 was selected. To enable a clear and succinct presentation of the data, charts and tables were used to present the results. The study demonstrated that insufficient infrastructure makes public sanitation facilities inaccessible to individuals with physical disabilities. It also unearthed insufficient enforcement of current regulations and poor policy implementation. The study also shown how negative attitudes prevent people with physical disabilities from using public sanitation facilities. The study's findings highlight how urgent it is to create and put into practice accessible infrastructure standards, especially when it comes to public sanitation facilities. The findings reveal significant gaps in accessibility, highlighting systemic deficiencies that currently impede the mobility, safety, and independence of individuals with physical disabilities. To address these challenges, the study recommends the establishment of rigorous standards that incorporate universal design principles, ensuring that public sanitation facilities are accessible to all, regardless of physical ability. Such standards are essential for reducing barriers and promoting inclusivity in public spaces.
Furthermore, the study advocates for increased government funding dedicated to the construction and maintenance of accessible sanitation facilities. Financial investment is crucial to bridging the existing infrastructural gaps and ensuring that accessibility measures are implemented effectively. Furthermore, the study underscores the significance of actively engaging individuals with physical disabilities in processes of planning, designing, and executing these facilities. Incorporating the perspectives and life experiences of those with disabilities will help policymakers and planners create more workable and inclusive solutions, which will eventually promote a more accessible and equitable public space.
