The dissertation examines the effectiveness of African Union Intervention measures, with a bias to the Somalia intervention. The study focuses on the link between the interventions and their effectiveness. The objectives of this study are to assess the driving factors for the AU intervention in Somalia; to establish the challenges facing AU in its operation in Somalia; and to examine the effectiveness of the strategies adopted by AU in Somalia. The study employed qualitative approach and sought to cover the exploratory and descriptive elements of the research process. The first part of this paper outlines a number of factors that drove AU to intervene in Somalia. The second part delves into the challenges the AU intervention faced in its operation, and the last part assesses the effectiveness of the strategies employed by the AU in its Somalia mission. The findings of the study reveal that the strategies employed by the AU in the Somalia intervention were effective though not to a great degree.en_US
