The Women in Leadership (WiL) Program, was launched by African Women Studies Centre (AWSC) as a transformative initiative aimed at addressing the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles within academia and key decision-making institutions. This program specifically targets the Department of Economics and Development Studies (DEDS) at the University of Nairobi, with a vision to achieve equal representation and participation of women in economics leadership by 2032. The program’s mission is to drive institutional change through policy reform, mentorship, capacity building, and advocacy, enabling women to thrive and lead in spaces critical to shaping socio-economic policy in Kenya.
