Screening of some plants used traditionally for anti-fungal activity in Vihiga district western Kenya

Abstract

Fungal infections in humans ha e been on the increase in the recent past mostly due to the treatment with immunosuppresive drugs and the spread of HIVlAIDS epidemic which has led to increased prevalence of diseases caused by weakness in the human immune systems (Katzung, 2001). Candida albicans, the most common fungus is naturally of low pathogenicity and requires the decreased immunity for disease to occur and thus is termed an opportunistic infection.
