dc.description.abstractAs the rising human cost of AIDS becomes increasingly visible in African countries, policy makers are giving more attention to the impact of the epidemic on socioeconomic development. Kenya's 1994-1996 National Development Plan begins to strategically address the developmental impacts of HIV / AIDS. The Plan calls upon the formal commercial/ private sector (henceforth the "business sector") to play a greater role in HIV / AIDS prevention by supporting workplace prevention efforts and establishing appropriate policies for the workplace.
