    Abstract
The Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) haematology section of the department of pathology has regularly participated in the World Health Organisation spon¬sored quality control (QC) exercises in blood coagulation since October 1975. These exercises together with existing internal quality assurance measures continue to ensure; (a) a satisfactory standard In the diagnosis and management of hereditary and acquired haemorrhagic disorders. (b) a good basis for safe and effective anticoagulant therapy. It is proposed that a nationai QC programme organised and co-ordinated by the KNH be initiated. This would have the benefits of higher standards of performance and uniformity in blood coagulation work in all Kenyan hospitals
