    Abstract
Rabies has been reponed in Kenya since 1912 (Hudson. 1944) but is now considered to be more widespread and prevalent than at any time in its history. Control measures, have not controlled canine rabies as in the developed world (Acha and Arambulo, 1985). In Kenya, as in other developing world, the dog is the most important reservoir of rabies accounting for 64.2% of the confirmed rabies cases (Veterinary Department, unpublished).
