Economic characteristics, needs and opportunities of small and minority farms in West Tennessee

Abstract

"Economic characteristics, needs and opportunities of small and minority farms in West Tennessee" was the theme of the eighth Annual University-wide RESEARCH DAY held at Tennessee State University, Learning Resource Center's (LRC) Auditorium (#235), main campus. The purpose of the Research Day was to 1) promote and encourage research 2) motivate members of the university family to greater participation 3) provide a show case for students participating in research and 4) serve as an advocate for research by both faculty and students. This one of the few studies that have put emphasis on minority farm operators. It is important to note that all minority fanners in the study are were small operators who operated small land areas. Many black farmers fall into this category of a small farm operation. Needless to say, the publication, "economic characteristics, needs and opportunities of small and minority farms in West Tennessee" represents the combined efforts of many people and organizations.
