    Abstract
Adherence to teaching time according to school timetables by Kenyan teachers in both primary and secondary schools is problematic. The problem of investigation is why teachers keep or do not keep teaching time. Teachers have been accused and continue to be accused of not keeping teaching time as timetabled and this is argued to be the cause of poor performance of learners in national examinations, especially Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). The study uses speculative method of philosophy in investigating what really makes teachers to adhere or not to adhere to teaching time. The speculation centres on time as kairos that has psychical influence on human behaviour. It is speculated that time as kairos metaphysically influences and propels teachers to adhere to teaching time as timetabled for better academic performance of learners in Kenyan national examinations. The influence of time is on human psyche and it is achieved when the teacher's mind harmonizes with the cosmic movements through reasoning.
