    Abstract
trategic management process is divided into three phases/segments, that is, formulation, implementation and control. The main critical phase of strategic management process is the implementation stage, (translating strategic thought into organizational action). Strategy implementation is concerned with how the choices will be put into effect and how to manage changes required in the process. Strategy implementation therefore is a crucial phase because it unites the organization between formulation and evaluation. The objective of this research was to establish the challenges faced by Kenya Reinsurance Corporation in their strategic plan implementation. To achieve this objective a case study research design was used. The study was conducted by carrying out an in depth interview with the senior managers of the company. The primary data was collected using interview guide which was designed for the purpose of the interview. Content analysis method was used for analysis. The respondents were senior managers who are heads of departments and divisions in the Corporation. The chief executive of the corporation was also a respondent. Reward system, departmental conflict and government policies and bureaucracy seemed to have been the most challenging factors for Kenya Reinsurance Corporation. Other challenges found across all the departments were competition, external factors like world economy, double taxation and lack of staff commitment. Other challenges identified include, historical injustice, political instability, language barrier and inadequate resources.
