    Abstract
The objective of the study was to examine the extent to which adaptive leadership’s gaining perspective dimension influences organizational performance. Gaining perspective was studied using the constructs of reflection, identifying adaptive challenges, and, problem-solving. The study is motivated by the limited research on the influence of adaptive leadership dimensions on organizational performance and the need for adaptive leadership in order to maneuver the dynamic and uncertain environment that insurance companies find themselves operating in. The adaptive leadership theory guided the conceptualization of the investigation. The study adopted the positivism philosophy that is based on factual knowledge gained through observation and measurement. The descriptive cross-sectional research design was used to gather information from all the 56 licensed insurance companies in Kenya using a census survey. Primary data was collected using a structured questionnaire and data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that the adaptive leadership dimension of gaining perspective has a significant influence on organizational performance. The results indicated that every unit increase in gaining perspective led to an increase of 0.656 in organizational performance. The study concluded that it is important for leaders to consider adaptive leadership’s dimension of gaining perspective through reflection, identifying adaptive challenges, and, problemsolving in order to impact on organizational performance of insurance companies. The study findings will inform the regulators and policymakers in formulating adaptive regulation, policies, and standards for the conduct of insurance companies that will enable maneuvering the dynamic environment and responding to changing customer needs for performance. The study also contributes to the scarce empirical research on adaptive leadership and the influence it has on organizational performance.
