dc.description.abstract | Piracy is an international problem that disrupts the global maritime trade and endangers the safety and security of crews, ship owners, and cargo owners. Alleged acts of Piracy have escalated off the coast of Somalia and in the Gulf of Aden. The gravity of the threat against maritime security and in order to bring suspected pirates to justice has led the international community to come together and developed international legislation and instruments on piracy. This study seeks to critically examine the development of international law on piracy and its enforcement by states with a specific focus on Kenya. | en_US |
