    Abstract
    study was to examine the role of strained bilateral relations in mediation The study was to examine the role of strained bilateral relations in mediation regional organizations. A case study of lOAD mediation in the Sudan peace process. The objectives were, to assess the. of strained bilateral and outside lGAD, to lGAD mediation of the Sudan conflict. and to find out how strained bilateral relations among states brought new actors, issues. concerns and interests in the IGAD mediation of the Sudan conflict. The methodology of research was through analysis. Primary data was collected from officials as delegates, or in any other capacity. These primary and data attended the S through filling of a questionnaire. Primary data was and discussions involving relevant as officials from the Sudanese embassy. The findings was that the bilateral relations that existed among states during the period covered by this study imparted both positively and negatively to the meditation But the negative impact took a larger also revealed that these strained bilateral of the repercussions interests. Issues the actors in the mediation. That is why IGAD meditation in the sudan conflict took longer than it was anticipated..
