dc.description.abstractWater and water development has taken a central focus globally and especially in the developing nations. Communities have persistent with water scarcity, occasioned by the climate change and persistent drought and unfavorable weather conditions. A lot of efforts are now directing towards conserving and preserving the available water resource while ensuring access to clean and adequate water to the population. Despite all these efforts, sustainability of water development projects has remains a major challenge among the change agent like Non-Governmental organizations, The Government and even private investors in this sector. The purpose of this study is to determine the institutional factors influencing the Sustainability of rural community managed water projects in Modogashe Sub County,Isiolo County, Kenya.The study is focused on the following objectives: to evaluate the extent to which project financing, water committee management skills, implementation of monitoring and evaluation and stakeholder’s involvement influences sustainability of rural community managed water pan projects in Modogashe Sub County. This study employs a descriptive design using a mixed mode approach where both qualitative and quantitative data will be collected. With a target population of 581 people who includes project managers, M&E officers,community leaders and project committee members, a sample of 116 respondents will be used. Data will be collected using self-administered questionnaires and key informant interviews while secondary data will be obtained through desk top review of literature. Both descriptive and inferential data analysis will be use where frequencies, percentages, mean score and standard deviation will be established as well as hypothesis testing using inferential statistics. Results of this study are expected to inform policy, practice and contribute to new knowledgeandmethodologyen_US
