Strategy Implementation and Sustainable Competitive Advantage on Large Tyres Companies in Nairobi Kenya
Abstract
The Primary objective of the study was to establish the role of strategy implementation in shaping sustainable competitive advantage within large tyre companies based in Nairobi, Kenya. The Study collected Primary data by conducting a comparative case study survey using an interview guide where the unit of study was the three Large Tyre Industry in Nairobi, Kenya as at October 2023 namely Auto Express, Kingsway Tyres, and Silverstone Tyres Ltd. The study found out that effective strategy implementation is a pivotal process that directly influences an organization's ability to achieve and maintain a sustainable competitive advantage. The findings highlighted key themes essential to the creation of a sustainable competitive edge in the tyre industry. Change management emerged as a fundamental element in strategy implementation. The study also emphasized on the importance of tracking and monitoring plans to ensure that strategies stay on course and confirmed the critical role of resource allocation and effective communication in successful strategy implementation, it was also evident that sustainable competitive advantage is possible in firms when the top management is supportive. The limitations of the study are that it was conducted within a geographic location of a specific industry, potentially limiting the applicability of the results to different sectors and regions and the generalizability of the findings to a broader context. Additionally, the study's findings were based on self-reported data, which might have introduced subjectivity and response bias. The study suggests further research on examining the role of top management and leadership support in overcoming resistance to strategic change, fostering organizational commitment, and enhancing strategy implementation success across various sectors. Based on the study findings, it is imperative that managers within large tyre companies or industry should recognize the pivotal role of effective strategy implementation in achieving and sustaining competitive advantage and should invest in comprehensive change management initiatives that align their workforce with the organization's strategic objectives, fostering a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement. The Research implicated that Managers should also prioritize the realignment of organizational structures and cultures to ensure that resources are optimally allocated, and that the workforce is in harmony with the strategic direction.
