Stakeholder Engagement Practices and Performance of Smart Driving Licence Project Among Public Service Vehicles in Kisumu County
Abstract
Stakeholder engagement practices are essential to the better performance of projects. When stakeholders are not adequately engaged, it often leads to confusion, uncertainty, and, in the worst cases, civil unrest. Thus, the current research work purpose to investigate the influence of stakeholder engagement practices poses on the performance of smart driving license project among public service vehicles in Kisumu County. The four objects guided the study including: To assess the way stakeholder consultation has influence on performance of smart driving licence among public service vehicles in Kisumu County, To examine how stakeholder collaboration influences performance of smart driving licence among public service vehicles in Kisumu County, To establish how stakeholder communication influences performance of smart driving licence among public service vehicles in Kisumu County, and lastly to determine how stakeholder progress monitoring influences performance of smart driving licence among public service vehicles in Kisumu County. The research was mainly anchored on Stakeholder Theory and supported System Theory. Descriptive survey research design utilized with a target population of 1450, from which a sample size of 306 was deduced by way of Krejcie and Morgan table. The study applied qquestionnaire to obtain primary data from the study respondents were arrived at by means of simple random sampling technique, thereafter, data obtained were synthesized both descriptively and inferentially with the aid of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 20. Descriptive statistics showed that most of the respondents agreed to a large extent with the Likert scale statement presented on the stakeholder engagement practices under investigation. The study finding showed that consultation positively and significantly influences performance of smart driving license project public service vehicles in Kisumu Count, whereas collaboration, communication and progress monitoring had a positive and significant influence on performance of smart driving license project among public service vehicles in Kisumu County. The study concluded that stakeholder engagement practices under investigation are significant to the performance of smart driving license project among public service vehicles in Kisumu County. Study recommended an increased stakeholder engagement in consultation, collaboration, communication, and progress monitoring for enhanced performance of smart driving license project among public service vehicles in Kisumu County. Researcher suggested for further studies in other counties and Kenya as a whole for result comparison and generalization.
