Rapid industrialization in urban areas like the Athi River Industrial Zone has led to severe environmental degradation and increasing air pollution. This study investigates the potential of integrating green spaces within this industrial setting to improve air quality, enhance community well-being, and mitigate the negative impacts of industrialization. Informed by new urban policy theories emphasizing the ecological and social benefits of green spaces, this study explores their current state and policy framework within the Athi River Industrial Zone. An exploratory mixed-methods approach combined surveys with key informant interviews to investigate awareness, attitudes, and the presence of green spaces. While awareness of the importance of green spaces was high, the study found limited physical areas confirming their presence. Additionally, 80% of green spaces in Athi River are privately owned, hindering access, while only 20% are publicly owned. This highlights issues of accessibility and informal governance. Participants acknowledged the benefits of green spaces for air quality and well-being but reported challenges like respiratory issues. Although green spaces hold strong potential, the study revealed a lack of specific policies for their implementation within the industrial zone, potentially hindering sustainable practices. This research recommends the development of clear green space policies, collaborative efforts, public awareness campaigns, enhanced monitoring, and private sector partnerships to promote sustainable urban development in the Athi River Industrial Zoneen_US
