This study explores the implementation of inclusive design principles within the aviation industry, focusing on the unique case of Wilson Airport in Nairobi County, Kenya. The importance of developing settings that meet the various requirements of people, including those who with disabilities, in order to advance accessibility and inclusivity in air travel. As an essential part of international transportation, the aviation industry is vital for establishing connections between people and promoting economic expansion. Nonetheless, problems with inclusivity and accessibility continue, frequently marginalizing people with impairments. This study examined Wilson Airport’s inclusive design program as it stands, noting both areas for development and obstacles to overcome. The main objective of the study was to establish the challenges faced by airline passengers who have mobility issues at Wilson Airport. The specific objectives were to assess the existing measures and services provided by the Aviation Industry in Airports Nairobi County Kenya to cater to the needs of airline passengers with mobility issues, to develop strategies and recommendations to enhance the overall experience of airline passengers with mobility issues at Wilson Airport and to propose the adoption of inclusive principles at Wilson Airport, Nairobi County, Kenya, with a focus on improving accessibility and accommodation for passengers with mobility issues. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach focusing on the theme of inclusive design within the aviation industry. The study had a population of 45 participants, who included 20 airline passengers with mobility issues, 10 aviation regulators, 10 air operators and 5 officers from the Ministry of Roads and Transport. Purposive sampling was utilized to deliberately select participants based on their relevance to the study objectives. The study findings indicated that there was lack of awareness among airport staff about the specific need for passengers with mobility issues. The study findings also revealed that the current infrastructure and facilities at the airport are not adequately equipped to provide seamless access for individuals with disabilities. Based on these findings, the study recommends several strategies to enhance the overall experience of airline passengers with mobility issues at Wilson Airport. These recommendations include implementing accessibility of specialized services for passengers with disabilities and developing clear policies and procedures for assisting passengers with mobility issues. Efforts should be made to train airport staff on how to properly assist and accommodate individuals with disabilities.en_US
