dc.description.abstract | Many businesses today, particularly those in the manufacturing sector, have used
information and communication technology as a strategy to address organizational
difficulties, boost efficiency and effectiveness in the production process, and improve
product quality in a cost-effective manner. The market's severe competition in textile
production is requiring firms to stay competitive by taking proactive initiatives to
improve production procedures. Textile mills are adopting new strategies to improve
quality, cut costs, respond quickly to changes in customer demands and vagaries in
raw material supply position, expand globally, develop new distribution channels, and
forge new value-added relationships with suppliers and customers in order to remain
profitable and sustainable in a global marketplace. The overall goal of this study was
to determine the effects of information and communication technology strategy on the
organizational performance of Rivatex East Africa Limited. The research evaluated
the sort of information and communication technology employed by Rivatex East
Africa Limited, as well as the consequences of ICT and its impact on organizational
performance. The study was guided by Systems Theory and Resource Based Theory,
which suggests methods to support information and communication technologies by
depicting inter-organizational linkages as components of a multi-sectioned linked
system and explain why the organization and information technology must be aligned.
The research was conducted as a case study and targeted 15 top managers of Rivatex
East Africa Limited. An interview guide was used to gather primary data. Various
themes underlying the topic were developed through the use of content analysis
methodology. This study found out that Rivatex East Africa Limited had put in place
management system that enhanced performance of the company and operational
efficiency, reducing costs, and enhanced product quality. The company has a reliable
database management system that supports the management in making effective
decision on its production operations as well as market intelligence. By further
identifying or processing the data, decisions may be made using the database
application that has been deployed in the organization as a basis from which needed
information is acquired. The study concludes that Information Communication
Technology supported the company via chances for promotion and better consumer
interactions achieved through the usage of internet marketing for their fabrics, clothes,
apparels and textiles products and tracking the sales with better ease. This study
suggests that future studies can be done to examine the trends and development of
information communication technology in textiles sector and its impact on textiles
production. Comprehensive examination of the challenges facing the textile industry
