dc.description.abstractThis study sought to determine how dynamic capabilities affect a company's competitive advantage Technical Vocational Education and Training Institutions in Mombasa County, Kenya. The study was anchored on dynamic capabilities theory and porters’ generic strategies. The study used a descriptive research design to analyze how dynamic capabilities affect competitive positioning in TVET institutions in Mombasa County. A census of 43 TVETs was targeted, with primary data gathered through a structured questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale. The study's 86% response rate was considered appropriate. To investigate the connections between competitive advantage and dynamic capacities, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were utilized. like sensing, integration, and reconfiguration. The regression model assessed the impact of these capabilities on competitive advantage. Descriptive statistics reveal that these institutions exhibit strong sensing capabilities, indicating proactive identification of educational opportunities and labor market trends. Integration capabilities demonstrate effective coordination of resources among stakeholders, while reconfiguration capabilities reflect adaptability to external challenges. The correlation analysis reveals significant positive relationships between sensing, integration, and reconfiguration capabilities and competitive advantage (p < 0.01). Notably, reconfiguration capabilities show the strongest correlation with competitive advantage, indicating its critical role in strategic positioning. The regression model demonstrates that the dynamic capabilities collectively explain 75.8% of the variance in competitive advantage (R² = 0.758). Among them, reconfiguration capabilities have the most significant positive impact, emphasizing its importance for adaptability and competitiveness. The study recommended that TVETA foster dynamic capabilities in TVET institutions through policies, training, and collaboration with industry, while institutions prioritize reconfiguration to boost adaptability. Practitioners should embrace continuous improvement and partnerships for aligning programs with market needs. Further studies could examine dynamic capabilities across sectors, investigate external factors influencing their effectiveness, and explore how organizational culture impacts their development and application for competitive advantage.en_US
