    Abstract
Nairobi has the fastest growing population which requires sufficient supply or water throughout the year. The city has had water shortages year after year occasioning rationing in most of its parts .This study examines courses of water shortages in Nairobi city and how distribution or water could be managed efficiently to minimize these shortages. Among the objectives were: to look into the efficient maintenance and management of network resources. to determine the percentage or area covered by the network and analyze the water demand for better allocation. Some of the achievements are: An integrated GIS system( airobi City Water Sewerage Company Operations and Distributions Maintenance System). enablernent to spatially viev, relationships between features in arc GIS. Capture various attributes on network resources. track water leakages, maintain pipe repairs and water pressure records in view of curbing water loss. visualization of repaired pipes and determination of leakage trends. performance of water demand analysis based on population for better planning. determination of best locations for reservoirs and determination of the shortest path between points. The study reveals that 54.6 % or water is lost due to leakages and illegal connections. 26.21 % of the area is not covered by the network
