    Abstract
    Thin study examines the major themes disoued by African church leaders at the All African conferences of Churches (AACC) between 1958 and 1978c It deals with the discussions at the assemblies which were held in 1958, 1963, 1969 and 1974 in the context of THEOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTIN THE ALL AAFRICA CONFERENCE OF CHURCHES. The research covered the following areas the historical back- ground of the AAcC, Christian mission in the AACC, African cultural development* in the AACC, and th* prophetic ministry of the ohurohe* in Africa* The objectives of the study w*r* first, to establish the theological developments that have taken place in each of the theme* ditrussed by examining the contents of each topic secondly, to find 0ut the context in which the subject wee discussed and finally, to determine oonolusiens that were r*aoh#d in eaoh oaa** In th* course of analysis we also found out what aspeots of the themes have been implemented by the African ohurohee, and what aspeots were re-disoussed from one particular assembly to another* In order to achieve the above objeotives w# analysed and compared the available documentations in the archives of the AA30 end interviewed certain personalities involved in the a0tivities 0f the AA30* In our study we paid partioular attention to the messages sent out to all (▼) churches by the delegate* of the different assembllea because «e considered these messages, resolutions and recommendations to be the essenoe of the theologioal developments in the AAOO# The study has been presented in six chapters. Chapter one is the introduction# Chapter two is the historical background of the AA3C fro* 1958 to 1978 Chapter three examines the theme of Christian mission in the AAOO context Chapter four studies African cultural developments in the AAOCe Chapter five deals with the subject of the "prophetic Ministry of the Ohio*©he* in Africa"* chapter six gives a summary, comment* end conclusions on the whole thesis
