    Abstract
The aim of this project was to develop an Insurance Control Information System for a typical Insurance Company using Oracle (RDBMS). Data for this purpose was collected from Heritage Insurance Company, Kenindia and Alico Insurance Company. Other agencies and brokerage firms were contacted to confirm the applicability of the data. The main task was to develop an Insurance Control Information System that would carry out functions performed by an Insurance Agency, which has been using the manual system for a long time. The Agency is charged with the responsibility of running various policies such as Life, Medical Insurance, Motor Insurance, Property Insurance etc. The Agency does not get in touch with the clients directly but through the brokers who issue various policies to the client. The project covered the evaluation of the current system, which included investigation and analysis, which necessitated the development of Computer based information system. The new system, which is the improvement-of the old manual system, was developed using the structural 'Top down' Approach and the-Hierarchical Input Output (HIPO) technique. It was then developed, linked and finally built into an application-using Oracle (RDBMS), Oracle 2000 Developer, and' a relational database management system. The new system 'gets its data from various forms generated during subscription of variouspolicies by the client for insurance purposes so as to generate transaction files, which is used to update the master files. It processes the input data and outputs reports of various types that are useful to the Company as well as decision-making
