    Abstract
Nutrient availability and seasonal variation have often been cited as the principal factors controlling rates of primary productivity and phytoplankton abundance in tropical African lakes. Very few studies of nutrient dynamics in this region, however, are available to test this hypothesis. A quantitative study of nutrient-productivity relationships was undertaken from January 1979 to July 1981 on three equatorial lakes in Naivasha basin,Kenya
