    Abstract
The present research work was undertaken to investigate coagulants which can be used locally to effectively remove dye residues in wastes arising from dyeing processes and dye manufacturing. The textile effluents generated and discharged by some of the local textile mills were characterized.Effects of the effluents on the quality of receiving waters were also investigated.Textile effluents were sampled from three different factories and various pollutants in the effluents were quantified.
