    Abstract
    The analysis of the results i-5 presented und:erthe main headings of c;--oproduction, livestock analysis and composition" .and an analyis of the human population. A chapter on the soil erosion trials carried out presents the findings, discussion and relevance of the trials. The results section presents the data factually Hith numerous supporting tables. The results are then discussed in detail in the final chapters. Constraints and factors advantage-ous to development ar-e identified and used-to try and define improveQents in the curr-ent land use strategies for the future. The human papulation is discussed further and the data is related to dietary .needsof the people and what will be needed in the futu.re.An imP9rtaot section on coping with drought is presented with land use patterns. Viable strategies for improving the resource base of the area to improve land use so that the land will be able to sustain an increasig population are presented with suggestions as to how such a system might be realized in practical terms.
