A Secure Electronic Voting System Prototype
Abstract
The growth of computers and information technology over the last few years has been explosive.
Computers have become necessities in virtually every area of modern life; they have brought vast benefits
to fields as diverse as space exploration, artificial intelligence and a host of applications from trivial to the
most life enhancing. The trend has caught on in the voting industry and E-voting systems have been
developed to complement the traditional methods of voting. However, most people have refused to
embrace the e-voting systems blindly and are questioning the security of the systems.
This project identifies the challenges of implementing e-voting systems, proposes and designs a secure e-voting
system prototype using Kenya's general elections as the test bed and describes how the proposed
system should be implemented.
