    Abstract
Studies of Labour migration as far as hitherto known have touched on the causes of rural to urban migration and in most cases been carried out in urban centres. In such endeavours 'Push and Pull' theory has been empirically demonstrated as being responsible for rural to urban migration. However, what has not been accomplished in these studies and which is the primary concern of this thesis is the determination of the most significant causes of rural-urban migration. Besides, the previous researches have not studied the phenomenon of return migration and its causes although some studies have noted its existence. This study also examines this existence and the reason for it.
