    Abstract
    This study is undertaken to establish factors that contribute to poor waste management in Umoja estate. The study is structured into five chapters. Chapter one which provides the background of the study. Chapter two contains the literature review. Chapter 3 discusses the research methodology employed chapter four contains data presentation analysis. Chapter 5 provides the study findings conclusion and recommendations The study employed a survey methodoloty with 3 sets of structured questions. The study employed a survey methodology the sample population was obtained from Umoja estate where a total of 150 respiondents were interviewed. The data collected was then analyzed using descriptive statistics. .. The study finding indicated that eh problem to all stakeholders of waste management is of great concern to all stakeholders and it is mainly contributed by the following factors, poor policy, framework poor technology, political climate, lack of information and communication, rapid population, growth, lack of financial stability The study recommends the need for improved waste management strategies in the locality inorder to protect human health and development. ~, . f f XII
