    Abstract
This report is an attempt to find out the failures of construction project management. To achieve this aim the report has started by examining characteristics of the construction industry, and hence the need for Project Managers. The importance of management is demonstrated through a discussion of management theories leading up to the conclusion that the present day project manager will need to have a wider management basis than the theories provided. The inappropriateness of existing management techniques are discussed and this leads to project management as the answer. The setbacks and failures of the present day Project Manager in Kenya are then discussed. The above discussion, are complemented by research on various issues and these lead to the conclusions, the major of which is that project management in Kenya is extensively abused in its present framework. The recommendations that are given aim to guide future Project Managers on the failures of those who have been before them, and this increase their use by building clients.
