    Abstract
Investigates the relationship between some physiological and physical parameters which would aid the identification of bean cultivars suited to semi-arid areas. The parameters include the transpiration ration, the relationship between transpiration control by the stomata and the water vapour concentration gradient from the leaf to the atmosphere. Analysis of the data showed that the basic measurements required are only those of leaf and air temperatures and relative humidity. The relationship of transpiration to water vapour concentration gradient and stomatal resistance appeared to be a more sensitive screening technique
