    Abstract
Ocular carcinoma occurred in 61 (0.77%) of 7901 cattle, and vulval carcinoma occurred in 83 (1.59%) of 5207 cows on 9 farms examined over two years. The prevalence of ocular and vulval carcinomas (respectively) was 0.49% and 4.28% in Ayrshire, 0.35% and 0.86% in Friesian, 0.89% and nil in Guernsey, and 0.90% and nil in Hereford cattle. Apart from one animal with ocular carcinoma at 1.5 years of age, the youngest age at which carcinomas occurred was 3 years. Cattle with unpigmented or partly pigmented eyelids or labia vulvae were at most risk.
