    Abstract
This article discusses a model short training for museums which was successfully implemented by the authors at the National Museums of Kenya (NMK). Given that most of Museums, particularly in developing world are short of conservation personnel, a programme of this nature provide Museums witjh a reasonable level of self reliance. thi would ensure that heritage is concerved and potected from the vagaries of nature with minum costs through preventive conservation. it takes cognisance of the fact that conservation is broad field which is constantly changing and museums are not repositories of dead materials but living and evolving institutions. this kind of training helped in developing inter interpersonal skills in the field of conservation among Museum employees of NMK who may have had the practical experience but lacking in theoretical foundations. the article, therefore, highlights best conservation practices in theory and practice in the form of a short training program in preventive conservation.
