Opportunities for woman-initiated HIV prevention methods among female sex workers in southern China

Abstract

In my observation and as validated by those in sex industry. a female-controlled method of HIV prevention is needed now. and not in the future. because power struggles inhibit women from negotiating safer sex practices. The development of women-controlled methods of HIV prevention has progressed at a slower pace than demand necessitates. The article forms a basis for further discussion. The strength of this study is that it has marketed further promotion of women-controlled methods. given the inequality that exists between the two genders. The introduction of women-controlled methods of HIV prevention should cause the incidence of HIV to decrease as it will allow women to use an HIV-protective method without which they would have been forced to have unprotected sex.Funding for study in women-controlled methods of HIV prevention has been far below what is needed. This has affected the pace and results of research in this area. Currently. the world has only female condom to offer to women, and the voice of women is not being heard. Acceleration of research in this field is urgently required at all levels, including further microbicide clinical trials and studies investigating dosage and frequency.
