Annual Report: 1971-72 for Institute of Adult Studies

Abstract

According to Paragraph 28 of University of Nairobi Statute XI, the Institute of Adult Studies "shall be responsible to Senate on all matters related to continuing education and shall collaborate with Faculties, where appropriate". This sentence entails a good deal more than its simplicity would suggest, for in reality it means that the Institute has to act as the main bridge between the University and many agencies in the Community, as the main proof that the University is not an "ivory tower reserve for an intellectual elite"p but a power-house of learning and research concerned with the welfare of the whole Kenyan nation.
