    Abstract
A bacteriological and Serological survey of salmonellosis in chicken (Gallus domesticus) was carried out on four farms and slaughterhouse. Four serological tests namely the rapid whole blood test (RWBPT), the slide agglutination test (SAT, the tube agglutination test (TAT) and the macroaglutination test (MaAGT) were used in the survey. Out of 906 faecal specimen studied, 4 (Salmonella) organism were isolated. These were (S. gallinarum and S. tyrphimuriom) Serological tests showed that RWBT detected 37.8percent positively, SAT 6.3 percent and TAT 76.3 percent. Seven TAT negative sera gav4 high MaAGT titres ranging from 1/320 to 1/20, 480. These serological tests indicated a high percentage of salmonellois in chicken. Failure to isolate the organism in large number could be attribute to the intermittent nature the organism is excreted.
