Abstract
The Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology is a preclinical department Located in Chiromo campus along Riverside Drive off Chiromo Road, 2 kilometres west of the Main Campus. The Department is the product of the notable merger of the two of the oldest and well-known departments in the faculty of Veterinary Medicine –Veterinary Anatomy and Animal Physiology that occurred in 2005.
The two departmental units had their origin within the establishment of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and were transferred from Makerere University College to the Royal College Nairobi in 1962. Veterinary Medicine students and wildlife Management students are prepared for various fields in the Veterinary Anatomy and physiology in the department. The Courses offered by the Department include:

The department is involved in a number of researches within the biological arena and has links with several local and international institutes. In addition it offers services to the general public such as consultancies for the ministry of livestock and fisheries and also prepares preserved teaching specimens for various universities and colleges
The Department has several facilities used for both research and teaching:~ Well equipped Histology laboratory, Physiology laboratory, biotechnology laboratory, and reproductive biology laboratory. The main areas of research are Neuroscience, molecular genetics Anatomy and developmental science ,Cardiovascular Physiology,Reproductive biology and Herbal and Traditional Medicine efficacy.
