In recognition of his extraordinary commitment and contribution to academic excellence and prevention of blindness in Eastern Africa through teaching, scientific research, advocacy and resource mobilization; the 2007 Ophthalmological Society of Eastern Africa (OSEA) annual conference held in Moshi Tanzania directed that Professor Klauss be given a special citation in this issue East African Journal of Ophthalmology (EAJO), the official OSEA Journal
