The Population Fluctuations of ectoparasites on Cattle in the
Kapsabet area of Kenya, E;ast Ai'rica. major Professor:
Richard C. Dobson.
During the year November, 1963 to Hovember 1964 this study
was undertaken to determine which arthropod ectoparasites were
present on cattlo and their pooulation fluctuations in relation to
meteorological data and snecies interaction.
The ectoparasites ere collected from a herd of cattle which
was not treated \wiith pesticides during: this study. The specimens
were then identified, counted and preserved, .The cat.t.Le in this
study were pastured in an area of low ..bush and scrub land at an
elevation of 6500 ft . The average temperature ranged from. 61 to
67 degrees Fahrenheit p the year round and the t rainfall total was
(1.46 inches for the year…………..
