    Business Process Re-engineering and Process Time Among Selected Large Manufacturing Firms in Nairobi, Kenya

    Abstract
    The aim of this study was to study the adoption process of BPR and its effect on process time in the selected large manufacturing firms in Kenya. Lately majority of the organizations have adopted the BPR and others are in the process of adopting. This study aimed at analyzing to what extent large manufacturing firms in Kenya adopted the BPR; find out the challenges, benefits and impact of BPR in organizations process. The study was undertaken on selected manufacturing companies; in this case 80 companies were sampled. The data collections procedure and tools adopted was questionnaires, where these questionnaires were administered by the researcher to the senior management team. The data collected was analyzed. The collected data was analyzed and summarized using tables and other data analysis tools. The study found that majority of the large manufacturing firms in Kenya have adopted the BPR and others are in the process of adoption. The study also indicated that BPR process adoptions have lead to massive benefits in the organizations. Some of the benefits found were efficiency of production process, quality of products and workforce, elimination of non-value adding process, inspection time, moving time and waiting/queuing time. This is an indication that BPR has significant positive influence on process time.
