    Abstract
Strategic change management is part of strategic management that is also referred to as change control and strategists tend to see change in general as a challenge and particular changes as desired objective. The aim of the study was determine strategic change management practices adopted by international non-governmental organizations in Kenya. Research objectives were; to establish the strategic change management practices adopted by international non-governmental organizations in Kenya and also to determine the challenges faced by international nongovernmental organizations in managing strategic change. A cross sectional survey was conducted by the researcher. The population of the study included a sample of the international non-governmental organizations in Kenya that either serves the interest of Kenya or the neighboring countries. The study intended to collect data from at least 37 organizations that have been in existence for more than five years. Data for the survey relied on the primary data by the use of a questionnaire. The study involved Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for preparation of the collected data coding-, editing, cleaning and for analysis purposes. The findings of the study recommended that international non-governmental organizations in Kenya should build an overall strategic system of the organization which legitimizes change programme. Strategic change management therefore should also ensure that organizations are headed to the right direction as all organizations need to align themselves to changes in their environment. The results of the finding therefore concludes that most respondent said that they apply the practices to a great extent except on change process took more time than originally allocated who revealed that they applied this to a moderate extent and that they encounter challenges to a great extent in managing change in the organization.
