    Abstract
    The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Jacob T. Kaimenyi, in consultation with the University of Nairobi Council has appointed Prof. Henry W. Mutoro as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs. The appointment is effective October 14, 2013.Prof. Mutoro, has been serving in the same position in an acting capacity since May 2013 when the previous holder Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Education. Before this appointment, Prof Mutoro was the Principal, College of Education and External Studies; a position he held for nine years. Prof. Mutoro is an Associate Professor in Archeology. He studied at the University of Nairobi for his bachelor and master degrees before proceeding to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for his doctoral studies. He served as Deputy Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (1997-2004), Dean, Faulty of Arts (1996- 1997) and Chairman, Department of History (1991- 1996). Prof. Mutoro is a widely published scholar with articles in peer reviewed journals, chapters in books, books and has made presentations in numerous public lectures, conferences and seminars. He is now charged with heading the Academic Division, the Deans Committee, Senate Appeals Committee, Lectureship Appointments Committee and the Senior Lectureships Appointments Committee.
