| dc.description.abstract | The University of Nairobi has once again provided a platform for Chinese Universities to showcase their programmes through the 2012 China Scholarship Council Education Exhibition.
The one-day event which attracted the participation of 19 Chinese universities was witnessed by hundreds of interested students and parents keen on finding out learning opportunities in China.
During the colourful opening ceremony, Prof. Peter Mbithi, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Finance, highlighted the importance of such exhibitions by pointing out that they expose the youth to more opportunities in the higher education subsector.
Over the years, UoN has partnered with different universities from China. The partnerships have proved beneficial to the staff and students of the universities involved through scholarships, exchange programmes and joint research.
Charge d’Affaires Counselor Yan Xiusheng who presided over the ceremony as the guest of honour said that the Chinese government has been keen in developing projects in the areas of education and research.
In 2005, China set up the first ConfuciusInstitution in Africa at the University of Nairobi through collaboration with Tianjin Normal University which opened doors for exchange programmes and created other opportunities with other institutions in the both countries. | en_US |
