    Abstract
This was said at an interactive lecture by Andrew Liveris, Chief Executive Officer, President and Chairman of Dow Chemical Company, science, business and innovation came together. From an interesting angle, Mr. Liveris was able to demonstrate Dow’s unique business model. Dow deals with products made by scientists and sold by business gurus thereby creating a crossroad of business and science. The company is one of the largest manufacturing firms in the world whose turnover last year was US $ 60 billion. Dow manufactures material in transportation and infrastructure, health, nutrition, consumerism (agriculture, water treatment, personal care items and more), petrochemicals, polymers and much more. In his lecture, Mr. Liveris highlighted the importance of innovation for the growth and development of the country. The world needs new technologies that are solutions to its greatest challenges. He challenged the students not to let progress end with his generation as aspiration and creativity of the new generation is needed. On the same note, Dr. Joseph Wanjui, the Chancellor, University of Nairobi, called on students to take advantage of the opportunities presented to them. Others in attendance included Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Admimnistration and Finance, Prof. Peter Mbithi, Deputy Vice-chancellor, Research, Production and Extension, Prof. Lucy Irungu, Principal College of Biological and Physical Sicences, Prof. Bernard Aduda among many scholars and top executives from Dow. Dow intends to give at least ten students opportunities to join its ranks
