    Abstract
The Republic of Korea is keen on strengthening this relationship and this was evident when a Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Korea, Hon. Choung Byoung-gug, paid a courtesy call to the Vice- Chancellor. The team led by Hon. Choung Byoung-gug, Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea was received on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor by Prof. Isaac Mbeche, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs. Hon. Byoung-gug delivered a message from the President, H.E. Ms. Park Geun-hye, on his special interest in Korean Studies. He said that the Republic of Korea was keen on strengthening Korean studies in the University and that the government was impressed by the progress made. Prof. Mbeche said that the partnership between the University and Korea provides opportunities for staff and students interested in Kenya and Korea relations to acquire relevant information and skills. UoN is currently collaborating with four Korean institutes of higher learning. These partnerships have a strong student exchange component with two Korean students currently studying in the Department of Sociology and three UoN postgraduate students enrolled in Universities in Korea. In addition, the programmes have seven professors from both countries on staff exchange. The Republic of Korea, Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Chan-Woo Kim, Prof. Enos Njeru, Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Preston Chitere, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Prof. Peter Wasamba, Associate Dean, Faculty of Arts are among those who were present during the courtesy call.
