    Varsity cements partnership with Central Bank

    Abstract
    The MOU will see participation and cooperation in areas of research, dissemination of research findings and teaching and training whereby CBK and UON will pursue collaborative arrangement in availing teaching staff from relevant disciplines to teach in the University and the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS). While CBK will support UoN in supervising postgraduate students, UoN will support thesis or project supervision for KSMS graduate programmes. In addition, a representative from CBK will serve as a member of the Advisory Board of the School of Economics. CBK will also give internship opportunities UoN students. Speaking during the signing ceremony, Prof. George Magoha, Vice Chancellor, UoN, welcomed the initiative saying that it was headed in the right direction as the two have had a working relationship for several years. The MoU marks the beginning of a formal partnership. He challenged the economists to take a lead role in developing capacity that will provide solutions to the country’s economic issues. On his part, Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u, Governor, CBK, assured the University of CBK’s commitment to ensuring that the terms of the MoU are met. He commended UoN for the strides made towards disseminating knowledge to Kenyans. A proud alumnus of the University, Prof. Ndung’u pointed out that most of the senior management at CBK have been trained at UoN. Prof. Isaac Mbeche, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs, Prof. Enos Njeru, Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Jane Mariara, Direcotr, School of Economics and Prof. S. Mitema, Director, Center for International Programmes and Linkages are among those who witnessed the signing of the MoU
