    Abstract
Speaker of East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA), Rt. Hon. Margaret N. Zziwa, has commended the College of Health Sciences (CHS) addressing the different emerging challenges in the health sector. The Speaker noted that indeed the region has the brains and the capacity to tackle problems. She was leading members of EALA who visited the CHS. She revealed that UoN was identified as one of the East African Community’s Centres of Excellence in November 2013. As part of the integration process, EALA committed to spreading the word that the EAC has and is developing homegrown solutions to health issues. Hon Zziwa commended the College for setting up Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes that have taken health care services to those who cannot access or afford it. During the meeting, Prof. Isaac Kibwage, Principal, CHS, made a detailed presentation of the College with focus on the programmes and projects in place, the use of technology in teaching and research, research partnerships and collaborations with various regional and international institutions as well as development of infrastructure. The EALA members are on a ten-day tour that will enable members to appreciate the diversity of the people and the development initiatives that Kenya can offer to the region. The legislators will interact directly with citizens and hear their views, aspirations and fears on the integration process. The EALA Members are also expected to get first-hand experience on the workings of a devolved government following the promulgation of the Constitution in Kenya in 2010
