    Abstract
    b) The design of the faculty of Mineral Resources has been centred on the following parameters: 01. Relationship of faculty to other parts of University. 02. The social relationship between students and staff. 03. The economic-political parameter. 04. A certain amount of flexibility within the building. From the above parameters - my design objectives have been 01. To try to mix the students and staff freely such that the staff are not isolated from the students. 02. To build a faculty with not more than 4 levels so that economically we can save foreign exchange to buy lifts. Also politically a directive was issued by the President that buildings in the new capital should as much as possible not go more than 4 levels. 03. To make sure that some parts of the building are flexible. CONTENTS The building contains generally: 01. Teaching facilities such as laboratories, classrooms, seminar room.s. 02. Offices for staff. 03. Stores, workshops and toilets. (c) EVALUATION The final design solution has accomplished the following: 01. It has the original thoroughfare solution where people can pass through. 02. Students and staff have various open spaces and recreation facilities which allow them to mix freely, and are not totally secluded from. one another. 03. Economically the building is justifiable in that it does not go beyond 3 levels, and thus there will not be any need to use foreign exchange to buy lifts. 04. There is a certain amount of flexibility within the building,- achieved by having convertible laboratories. 05. The separation of the various parts of the building by use of doors and windows makes the building a good looking aerthetically. Also the facades in the building are very nice - especially the north - south ones
