    Abstract
The report, based on a workshop held by the Government of Kenya, describes development, government policy, and settlement policy for semiarid lands of Kenya. Other issues covered include dryland farming, irrigation, soil and water conservation, present and future patterns of consumption, forest resources, pastoralism and ranching in range lands, forage for livestock production, and tourism and wildlife in the semiarid areas. Two case studies of the Baringo and Kajiado Districts are also included.
