Seconday School Kangemi
Abstract
There is need for provision of social, educational and econom1C facilities for the low income
urban dweller 1n Nairobi. There is also COrt2ern about the ever increasing number of post-
secondary school young men and women job seekers in urban areas, a process that questions
the relevance of the contemporary education offered at Secondary school level. Secondary
school plants are expensive man-made structures but as is now there is need for their full
utilization especially during school holidays when the students are away
OBJECTIVES.
The primary objectives 1n this thesis are:
To develop secondary educational facilities that will conveniently provide comprehensive
self-reliant education for 480 boys and Girls at the ages of 13 to 18 years within a period of four years.
To raise the literacy level in Kangemi village.
To raise and reinforce the economic least in part of the community in Kangemi.
To promote more social and cultural integration amongst Kangemi residents and provide
adequate recreational facilities for them
To alleviate the problem of space inadequacy for religious denominations in kangemi.
Architectural Contribution
The contribution that has been made in. t. lis thesis is the building of an environment
that respects fast expanding townscape and one that combines aesthetic effects with
practical consideration. A structure that creates form and one which ensure; that
accommodation is properly related to the requirement of owners and occupiers. A structure
in which form and construction are appropriate to the function of the building and its
setting.
An attempt has been made in the use of new rooting material (maxspan +tile finish)
